Airport expansion is not consistent with any credible strategy for keeping global temperature rises to within 1.5 degrees of pre-industrial levels and is therefore irresponsible and short-sighted. Further, the expansion will lead to increased flights and therefore more noise, pollution and environmental degradation for people living on the flight path and further erosion of their quality of life. There will be a negative impact on wildlife, particularly the bird population. Further, there will be additional traffic, particularly high polluting motor traffic with the increased passenger traffic and additional staff working at the airport. There will be further pressure on local resources - water, housing etc
