The flight path goes over unpopulated areas of the High Weald. It will cause noise pollution, air pollution and light pollution. The High Weald is one of the few truly rural areas in the South East. The is no viable public transport system around Gatwick as the trains are already overcrowded and the traffic around Gatwick is always bad. The only main transport links are to the north via the M23 and on to the M25. These are both regularly jammed. There are no east west routes which means that the single track roads are likely to be much busier than usual and cause more pollution in rural areas. There is no proven need for a second runway, it is a gamble/investment in the future. Air travel is already in decline, so the development of the runway is a waste of money as well as an attack on nature
