The expansion of the airport to facilitate more overseas holidays and business trips is contrary to everything we should be doing to combat the current environmental catastrophe the whole world is currently facing. We should be reducing the size of the airport, not expanding it. The number of flights, whether full planes or not, will clearly expand to fill the new available slots, whether they are strictly needed or not. Every decision we are all taking on a day-to-day basis, whether large or small, should be geared to saving this planet from the looming environmental disaster not exacerbating the problem. Profit considerations, and the creation of a few more low-paid jobs have to take a lower priority.
