As a resident I already experience significant noise pollution from Gatwick Airport flight paths. The area I live in is part of the high weald, parts of which are designated AOB, it is reasonable to conclude that more flights would impact the protected area in a detrimental way, bringing higher levels of pollution. The aviation industry already adds a considerable amount of carbon to the environment, expansion in this industry is completely counter intuitive. Not to mention the infrastructure required with increased road traffic and homes for new workers. Housing in the region is falling short of meeting requirements, my concern is that ultimately these problems will not be resolved and only add to social issues (such as a shortage of affordable housing in both the public and private sector). Many of the roles within the airport are low paid, such as those within hospitality or baggage handling.
