Our beautiful area, which is an AONB and includes Hever Castle, Penshurst Place, Chartwell to name a few, is blighted by almost intolerable aeroplane noise from Gatwick. It is like living with a motorway over our gardens and this will only get a lot worse if the extra runway is allowed. The planes fly not only during the day but also at night, making sleep difficult especially in warmer months when you have the windows open (which coincides with extra holiday air traffic). Increasing air traffic at Gatwick may create more jobs but it will put even more traffic on our congested roads, require more water usage when we already suffer from regular hosepipe bans and it is difficult to see where all the extra workforce will live. Our environment is in such a bad way we should be cutting back on flights and car journeys rather than encouraging more people to travel, creating even worse carbon emissions. Please see sense and do not allow this emergency runway to be put into regular use.
