I object on the grounds that the proposed second runway is not using existing infrastructure. The proposed extension of the airport will create traffic problems making existing congestion much worse and the impact on the environment and climate will be in contravention of current Government policy on carbon emissions. Air traffic control cannot cope with the existing air traffic at Gatwick and cancellation of flights will be even more prevalent if extension is permitted. With so much automation at the airport employment opportunities following expansion will be far less than projected by the present owners of the airport.
