I live about 15 miles west of Gatwick in the High Weald AONB. When I moved here ten years ago the arrangements for flight paths meant that the noise and intrusion created by the current frequency of flights close to my home (and sometimes directly overhead) was tolerable. However, the additional frequency of flights arising from the introduction of a second runway would create intolerable noise and intrusion not just for me but for every resident, visitor and business in the High Weald AONB to an extent that is not justified by the case for expanding Gatwick airport. In terms of National Infrastructure, additional airport capacity should be located in the North of England, where there would be far greater economic and social benefits than in the South East which is already well-served by plenty of airports. Furthermore, there is a shortage of the skills required to support additional capacity at Gatwick which would lead to more people moving to an area where housing development is restricted due to the designation of the High Weald as an AONB.
