I have lived at [REDACTED] for over forty years and during that time I have witnessed increased noise disturbance caused by the increasing number of flights. [REDACTED] operates primarily as a wedding venue which holds mostly outdoor events during the warmer months. Any increase in aircraft noise disturbance is of grave concern to me and I am strongly opposed to it as it will have impact on my business and employees. Current climate change initiatives are aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions until they are net zero by 2050. One focus for achieving this reduction is based on limiting the number of short haul flights and increasing the use of trains. Many countries in Europe are actively considering banning short haul flights. When this happens, which in my opinion is inevitable, the purpose for which the northern runway was intended will be rendered obsolete. To continue with this proposal by modelling future plans for Gatwick Airport based on past expansion would clearly be a mistake and an act of considerable hubris.
