I am against Gatwick's plans to make the emergency runway into a second runway .If permission is granted we will have significantly more flights over our area - Hever parish . Hever Castle is a grade 1 listed heritage attraction within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty . Expansion at Gatwick will mean a wider swathe of protected countryside will be blighted by aircraft .There will be an increase in aircraft noise with an additional 101, 000 flights a year and associated additional carbon and greenhouse gases . There is a lack of affordable housing to enable workers to walk or cycle to work as the applicant proposes . Low skilled jobs are offered with little job security due to the volatile nature of the airports leisure business . Gatwick sits on a single main road - the M23 deemed an unsafe smart road . The increase in freight , passengers and workers will cause an increase in congestion on residential roads and an inevitable decline in air quality . The airport sits on the Brighton mainline which currently provides a poor standard of service and cannot be expanded .
