This expansion goes against everything that we need to do to reverse climate change. Encouraging extra travel - cars and planes. Once a new runway is created it can’t be undone. The impact cannot be reversed. The decimation of the countryside cannot be reversed. If more people want to travel by plane, and we shouldn’t be encouraging this, they should be accommodated in larger more economical planes, not more of them. In reality people should be being educated away from climate damaging travel and being able to satisfy their wanderlust in a more environmentally responsible way. The people who want this expansion should also come to understand their social responsibility and not ruin the planet for future generations. They should stop being so irresponsible.
