We live right next to Gatwick Airport - the proposals for the expansion of the airport will not only add over 1,000000 tonnes of extra carbon into the atmosphere but the huge construction required for both the airport and the surrounding road network/hotel construction etc will also contribute to pollution and will, be a nightmare for residents in the area. The proposal to expand roads and demolish parts of Riverside park will destroy 100s of trees and disrupt wildlife that have made their homes in this area, The supposed replacement 'green space' is B carpark (belonging to GAL) There is no way this can be altered to be any form of replacement and it has a huge electrical plant in the middle - which we have been told can not be replaced. This will in no way compensate for the trees and green space that will be destroyed in the process of the expansion plans There are also major issues with water pollution for anyone living within a 10 mile radius (at least) of Gatwick - and air pollution has shown there are particles from aircraft tyres etc The increased noise levels and vibrations also would be unbearable - and we have even found that our house insurance has almost doubled despite none of our circumstances changing or claims being made - when asked why apparently because our post code is next to Gatwick the crime figures are appalling - with even more flights / passengers this will only get worse. The limited infrastructure we have in this area - where local doctors' surgery lists are already closed is in no way prepared for the proposed numbers of additional residents
