I object to the proposal for a second runway at Gatwick Airport. My reasons are: a) There will be a significant increase in noise levels. The number of flights has already increased significantly in recent months, as far as I am aware, without consultation. Of particular concern is the increase of overnight arrivals into the small hours. This is also a recent event and is most likely to increase further with a second runway. b) Sleep is already being disrupted and extra flights will add to this, potentially affecting health through lack of sleep and the attendant anxiety it will cause. c) In light of climate change, a second runway should not be on the agenda. This will only add to the already high levels of atmospheric pollution caused by the aircraft.
