I am very unhappy that this project should even be considered under the circumstances. I think it is wrong to expand for a number of reasons. A huge increase in already serious air pollution, from both hugely increased traffic and number of planes taking off. Taking off is known to be highly polluting. Noise pollution. The amount of aircraft noise is now so excessive that it seems to be embedded in my psyche. It wakes me up at night even. That awful high pitched drone as they slow their planes down? I’m not sure how their engines make such a disturbing sound. But more of it will have an awful effect on the mental health of a large area of surrounding population. The population should come before profits as far as the the planning inspectorate is concerned I would have thought! Last but most importantly we all know we have to urgently cut down on fossil fuel pollution. Unless we think the earth is flat we cannot possibly even consider expanding Gatwick.
