Our property is on the direct flightpath of Gatwick Airport. This year in particular has been a lot busier than previous years and on ocassion there has been one flight every 2 minutes. The sound pollution is awful and what it does to the environment God only knows. We are experiencing accelerated global warming currently, we really should not be thinking of increasing our flight capability at a time when the world is so fragile and we aiming to become carbon neutral. Gatwick Airport has the authority to land more night flights than any other airport in the UK; over 7000 during the summer months. The noise at night is unbearable and unnecessary it is just a money making exercise for Gatwick Airport. Covid proved to us that civilisation has to change, that as a society we do not need to travel the breadth of a country / world for a work meeting. We need to focus on reducing unnecessary travel and transportation of goods and people rather than providing the tools to increase it. Look at HS2 - what we have done to the environment, peoples security and mental health just to shave a few minutes of an individual's travel time. After billions of tax payers money being spent and it's now been scrapped. The South East's flight capacity does not need to be increased, it already has Heathrow, Stansted, City, Luton and Gatwick. Stop the expansion, I would not want others to experience our daily (night and day) noise and air pollution. STOP THE EXPANSION.
