I am concerned about the increased noise and air pollution which will result from the proposed extensive expansion and which will impact on my property because of the increased number of flights. I am unconvinced by the suggestion that this impact will be mitigated by as yet unavailable quieter, larger aircraft. I am also concerned about the increase in traffic congestion which will impact on narrow roads in my area as travellers seek short cuts. This and the construction works will also increase adverse climate effects in the area and the increase in land covered by concrete and buildings is likely to increase flooding in a wider area than the airport itself. There are other wider arguments against the proposals such as whether there is a real need for the expansion and the impact on the ability of the UK as a whole to achieve carbon reduction targets. If the proposals are agreed conditions should be imposed including bans on night flights, contributions to infrastructure improvements, release of land currently held for an additional runway etc.
