As residents of [REDACTED], near Edenbridge, we consider ourselves fortunate to live in a part of the UK which has so many areas of protected countryside and historic buildings. Noise pollution of every sort is a bane of modern life and although we are assured that aircraft are not currently routed over our village, noise doesn't only travel directly downwards - it has a footprint. (We are also plagued by frequent helicopter flights to and from Redhill, with the heavier machines making so much noise that we sometimes have to pause outdoor conversations). A further runway at Gatwick will exacerbate the noise problem over a wide area of supposedly treasured landscape, as well as adding to pollution from burnt and unburnt aviation fuel and lubricants. Moreover there will be increased stress on the roads as more people will use cars to travel to the airport - the railway only benefits those living close to the London to Brighton line. As this is a strategic infrastructure project, sadly we have to accept that our protests will count for nothing, but they must be voiced. Hopefully the days of near silent and pollution-free aircraft are not too far away. Thankyou for reading this. Regards, Barry Morse
