We moved to Tonbridge 36years ago and the volume of aircraft has increased significantly during this period. The flight approach to the airport already causes noise and pollution, as planes frequently fly directly overhead. At peak times this can be as much as every 90seconds. Some flights have even been heard early mornings before 6am. The noise is even more noticeable in the local villages, National Trust sites and open spaces where peace, quiet and relaxation should be protected. An additional runway would increase the negative impacts even more. Traffic will increase on the M25, which is already busy, especially with other traffic heading to Heathrow, M4, M40 and beyond.
