The expansion of the runway facilities at Gatwick should not be permitted. Grounds for refusal of the application are: The economic case made by Gatwick is flawed with a material increase in working from home and increasing recognition by large corporates of their ESG obligations. There is little benefit coming to the local area and the application is driven by a profit motive from an overseas business. The concerns of the local people have been consistently ignored over the past 25 years i have been living in Hever, with the noise and pollution blight increasing despite assurances to the contrary, other than the welcome respite over the pandemic. The senior management of Gatwick cannot be trusted and having the CEO involved in any oversight capacity and the appointment of him as Co Chair of the Aviation Council is a clear conflict and he should be removed to prevent any lobbying (overt or covert) in support of this application that is in clear conflict with the Governments objective of achieving net Zero.
