I am completely against the proposed expansion to bring the northern runway into use. This is, in effect, a second runway at Gatwick Airport being introduced dishonestly and by deception. Gatwick’s plans, if approved, would have a significant impact on our community for decades to come. Expansion would be environmentally damaging and we are already blighted in our daily life by aircraft pollution and noise. This affects us in so many negative ways. We are unable to socialise in the garden as you cannot hear a conversation over the constant aircraft noise. The aircraft can still be heard inside the house and there is no escaping the dreadful noise. The noise disturbance is perpetual as soon as one plane heads towards the distance the next plane is already approaching. This continues throughout the day and through the night. The aircraft fly so low that the noise wakes us up through the night and has a damaging effect on our physical and mental health. Research shows that this has an impact on our childrens' ability to learn, sleep and play. The impact on residents under its flight path and the wider local infrastructure is extremely negative as the current path concentrates a very large number of flights in one direction - over our villages and this is unfair - there is no consideration for residents and no fair and equal distribution of flights across a wider area. There also remains a Government policy to reduce the number of people significantly affected by aircraft noise.
