Gatwick Airport have submitted plans to the Planning Inspectorate which would bring their northern runway into use. This is, in effect, a second runway at Gatwick Airport. Gatwick’s plans, if approved, would have a significant impact on our community for decades to come. Expansion would be environmentally damaging and we would not see the economic benefits of expansion that many other communities would. The potential employment and economic benefits can only be considered fully alongside the implications for the environment, the impact on residents under its flight path and the wider local infrastructure. There also remains a Government policy to reduce the number of people significantly affected by aircraft noise.
