There is nothing beautiful about living in an area of outstanding natural beauty which is plagued by non-stop aircraft noise both day and night. This is exactly how it is, quite often, at busy times of year. It is most frequent in warm summer months when windows are open. Before the sound of one aircraft dies away another one can be heard approaching, when aircraft are at 90 second spacing. Apart from noise pollution, exhaust fumes pollution is always with us. While it is fashionable to ignore the need to reduce our carbon footprint, we are less keen on the consequences of not doing so. Floods ruining our homes, droughts and wildfires damaging the environment and record high temperatures affecting our health. In essence then we should be reducing our fossil fuel use in relatively easy ways to do so. This means flying less. To do the opposite simply means that we fail to grasp the severity of the situation that we are now in.
