The prospect of a second runway at Gatwick Airport raises significant concerns for local residents, primarily related to the increased air traffic it would bring. A greater number of flights will inevitably result in a substantial increase in noise levels, which can disrupt the peace and quiet of residential neighborhoods, negatively impacting the quality of life. This noise pollution, coupled with potential changes in flight paths, could lead to a disturbance for those living nearby, affecting daily routines, sleep patterns, and overall well-being. Moreover, the heightened air traffic might also lead to an uptick in air pollution, posing potential health risks for residents.
