This application should be rejected as additional runway at Gatwick only benefits the applicants shareholders and management team, clear submissions from respected consultants have provided crystal clear advice that an additional runway at Gatwick would be nothing short of climate crime, leading to thousands of extra flights a year, additional light and air pollution. The additional £91billion to clean up the extra carbon emissions that would be required. Noise Impact at Gatwick is already above the recommended levels by the World Health Organisation. Air Particle concentration in the air is already similar to those measured close to highly trafficked roads in Central London. Pollution already increasing - supplied drinking water containing increased levels of Toxic PFAS forever chemicals - Reports 2nd June 2023 People living within a 10 mile radius of ~Heathrow and Gatwick were supplied with bottled drinking water. 1 million tonnes of carbon emissions per year with the expected additional 100,000 flights a year. Climate Change Committee, recent report on the UK’s progress in reducing emissions which states that NO airport expansions should proceed until a UK wide Capacity Management Framework is in place to annually assess and if required control sector GHG emissions and non CO2 effects. CCC said this should be developed by the Department of Transport over the next 12 months and should be operational by the end of 2024. No application should be considered until this data has become publicly available. New flight paths will have detrimental impacts to many new areas within Kent, Sussex and Surrey. Insufficient infrastructure especially highways as Gatwick sits on a single arterial road M23 and a single railway line that can not be extended. Gatwick Airport is well known fact that in recent years has been reducing jobs through automation, baggage handlers, air traffic control and check in staff. The stated 14,000 new jobs that the applicant states the additional runway will provide is very questionable and should be closely examined. The environmental impact will be uncharted, unknown and could have devastating effects for future generations across a wide area and a number of counties. Damage to quality of life Unknown effect on Wildlife Ecological issues increase in night flights The expansion will not only effect local communities but the whole of the South East of England.
