The introduction of PRNAV has had a significant detrimental effect to our quality of life due to increased aircraft noise. Departure Routes 3 and 4 both fly over our home and in addition we are disturbed by Heathrow departures, especially when forced to fly low due to the operation of the Ockham Stack. Hence increased flights from Gatwick due to two runway operation will create an intolerable level of aircraft noise. We live on the A217 which is already very congested due to traffic from Gatwick heading to London and the M25, without significant road improvements in the area increased Gatwick activity could result in frequent gridlocks. We question the need for further expansion at Gatwick, and indeed the other London airports. Increased demand for air travel can be met by regional airports which reduces the congestion and environmental impact of passengers making long journeys to the London airports. We strongly oppose the proposed project at Gatwick. If it does proceed its impact must be mitigated by: Planned dispersal or respite of the departure routes Relocation of the Ockham Stack so departing flights can climb quicker. A ban on night flights Dykes or other means to limit the noise of aircraft on the ground. Significant improvements to the local road network.
