I moved here with the full knowledge of the airport and it provides a necessary service, plus jobs for locals. BUT the expansion of the airport, the sneaking in of a second runway by using the emergency runway, and the grandiose expansion plans will not benefit the area and its residents. Nor, of course, will it benefit our planet. I am horrified at the level of noise, traffic and required infrastructure that this new plan is mooting to inflict on us. Even now there's a slick of oil on my garden pond, I smell aviation fuel and on most days in the garden it can be difficult to hear yourself speak. I have a daughter who is a microbiologist and she is on the frontline watching the rapid decline of the natural world. What on earth are we doing increasing pollution in this day and age. Please think long and hard about this money grabbing proposal and the long term affect on those of us who live and work in this crowded part of the SE. Those green spaces left to us must be protected and not ruined by excess noise, filthy air and crowded skies.
