CPRE Kent objects to the proposals to construct a new runway at Gatwick. It is disingenuous to describe the proposals as 'bringing an existing runway into regular use', when what is proposed is an entirely new runway, entirely contrary to Government’s existing Aviation Strategy. We object also to the principle of aviation expansion in the light of the rapidly escalating climate crisis. Furthermore, we do not consider that the ground access, is adequate for the proposed increase in passenger numbers. Finally, we consider escalation of nuisance noise pollution as the result of airport expansion is not acceptable.
