My concerns are that another runway will bring with it: 1) an increased level of noise due to more aeroplanes taking off and landing affecting not just the houses which are beside the airport. The envelope of noise will spread much wider across East Sussex and West Kent. We already have enough planes flying over Crowborough at the moment with just 1 runway. 2) an increased damage to health with more planes taking off and landing because of a rise in air pollution and sleep deprivation due to disturbance at night time. 3) damage to the environment by the increase in pollution from engine exhaust fumes. Aircraft that are idling and taxiing at airports emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM), and sulfur dioxide (SO2) into the atmosphere. These compounds are known to have significant health and environmental impact.
