The proposed expansion of Gatwick would be an environmental disaster for the surrounding area. Over the years, numerous public consultations have taken place and have clearly shown that the airport already adversely impacts the surrounding community and despite promises being made to ease the situation, things have just got worse as more flights are put in the air. Concentrated routes are now being utilised over rural areas, contrary to public opinion, causing stress and loss of trust in the planning and consultation process.
