Having moved from Newdigate where Gatwick introduced concentrated flight paths I have first hand experience of the misery an increase in flights has on those overflown. There is already very little respite in Nutley and we get loud planes throughout the night with increased traffic from 6am to 11pm. We live in an area of outstanding natural beauty and part of that beauty is the peace and quiet of a rural area, another runway at Gatwick will only increase the number of flights and damage to the tranquility of the forest and its wildlife, it has a detrimental impact on my life and at a time when we should be doing our best as a nation to improve air quality and reduce pollution there appears to be little such regard given in this proposal. I believe the additional runway is expected to increase employment in the area also, but having owned a business in the area am very aware of the lack of workers in the vicinity and therefore I believe it only detracts from the benefits to the locality. Another runway at Gatwick is unsustainable on both an ecological and humanitarian level.
