Main local concern - Noise caused by increased aircraft movements over the village mainly from departure Route 3, also Route 4 (and Heathrow overflights which will increase at same time due to Heathrow expansion). Concentrated noise has already been made worse since the introduction of R-NAV1, this could be reduced by automatically randomly using a range of waypoints for departing aircraft and thus spreading the noise envelope over a wider range (as happened with the earlier beacon system which naturally created a degree of dispersal among the tracks flown by the aircraft as they passed through the Noise Preferential Routes (NPRs). Alternatively, Route 3 could sometimes turn harder to use reverse of Route 4 where departure NPR is not limited to 3000’ by Heathrow traffic. Main National concern – Climate Change, any (airport) development will be incompatible with net zero targets and the need to mitigate climate change. The airport development itself will of course cause further local development to support it, such as additional population, housing, transport and services thus increasing the overall carbon and greenhouse emissions. While it is understood that the UK contribution to world greenhouse gas emissions and carbon usage is minor in a world scenario, the UK has made obligations to demonstrate our intent in this area.
