I do not want this airport expansion to go ahead. In the current climate breakdown any expansion of air traffic will exponentially increase the likelihood of planet earth becoming uninhabitable for humans, and I do not want my grandchildren to have to live through this. There is already too much noise and disturbance for local residents from the current number of planes, so using a second runway would only exacerbate the situation. It would inevitably increase pollution and traffic in the area- roads are already at capacity with no space for road expansion. It goes against all the protocols and agreements to limit global warming- would cost an inordinate amount of money which could be better used in making public transport better. Air quality in the area will significantly worsen; as a walker and leader of walks I see evidence of poor air quality in the flora and fauna in West Sussex and this will be made worse by Gatwick expansion. We really should not be encouraging the use of planes- like France we should be refusing to allow flights where a train is a viable alternative. So put the money into the rail infrastructure instead. This is madness- look at global temperatures year on year rising beyond predictions so quickly now. Stop this expansion, it is wrong on so many levels.
