The huge expansion proposed by Gatwick will result in a massive increase in noise, carbon emissions and air pollution. In addition none of the infrastructure can cope and will lead to considerably worse road congestion and have a disproportionate effect on public transport. Airport capacity should be expanded in the regions that need it, not drag the rest of the country to need to travel to the heavily congested South East to catch a plane - it makes no sense.
