Climate change & air pollution: Expansion on the scale proposed would significantly increase the CO2 emissions that drive up global warming and discomfort for human life on earth. There are currently no proven technologies for reducing aviation emissions at scale. Expansion of Gatwick would have a material impact on the UK's ability to meet it's carbon reduction targets. Carbon emissions will also result from construction works and increased road traffic to the airport. Flights and traffic will further pollute our air, increasing ill-heath in humans, and associated NHS costs.
