My views on increasing the size of Gatwick Airport: 1. Climate change is an existential problem which most governments seem to be pushing out of the equation. Travel in many forms contributes to climate change, by its use of fossil fuel and resulting air, water and ground pollution. 2. More air travel also results in more vehicle journeys on land to and from airports and to service planes. 3. Greater noise pollution Governments need to encourage people: to fly less, not more to travel less in general To work at or nearer to home These things may not be vote winners but will enable human life on the planet to be more bearable, for more people, for longer. Increase air travel and we may as well all give up now…. So sad for all the innocent wild animals and people in poorer countries who don’t have a voice and have no interest in air travel. Their natural habitats are just being destroyed by the greedy….
