Gatwick moved their 2 main departure runways northwards in 2012 towards Redhill/Reigate towns and their communities notwithstanding the fact that they were fully aware these towns/communities have historically also been under flight paths from Heathrow. This is totally against the CAA's ruling that there should be a 'fair and equitable distribution of aircraft noise'. Gatwick and the surrounding infrastructre is not suitable for an Airport double the current size with inadequate local roads, a train line that cannot be expanded, a flood risk near the Airport, and is already a high pollution area. This development would cause double the noise/pollution for local communities. Redhill/Reigate and Crawley are already high employment areas so even more people would have to be brought in to fill the extra jobs created. As there is a Governmental need to reduce carbon emissions how can a hugely increased Airport even be considered that will further pollute the surrounding areas to an unacceptable degree.
