I object to this proposed expansion on several grounds • The policy seems to have been (deliberately?) misinterpreted by the airport as this is an application for a new runway which does not comply with government policy. Government Aviation Strategy allows one for one additional runway in the South East and that was identified as and approved for Heathrow. • increase in aircraft noise for many, many people in a wide area : further adversely impacting their sleep and mental health, already adversely impacted by the air traffic volumes today. • impact on climate change • lack of surface transport around Gatwick. Already the public and private transport around the airport is stretched. Further air traffice will hugely increase the demand for these services and there appears to be little or no provision for this. • decline in air quality • lack of affordable housing and amenities to support the additional workforce • there is no existing second runway currently operating in conjunction with the main runway (it is only used when the main runway is not being used) – so Gatwick is misleading residents about the current existence of a ‘second’ runway. This is Gatwick seeking expansion and a second runway via “the back door”
