Gatwick Airport Expansion Plans I live in Edenbridge on the northern edge of the flight path of aircraft approaching from the east, the predominant direction, and I strongly object to GAL’s plans to expand Gatwick. I can foresee aircraft noise going from annoying and irritable as it is now to intolerable in the future as it becomes more persistent. Stress and sleep deprivation will increase and health and quality of life will suffer. There is also the silent killer - air pollution. GAL admit CO2 emissions will amount to 5.5% of UK’s total emissions by 2038 (up from <1% in 2018). How can a government committed to nett zero possibly condone this? Noise and air pollution are my main concerns but there are many other downsides to the expansion and few, if any, upsides. I feel GAL have been somewhat disingenuous in their presentation.
