I oppose the proposal for a second runway at Gatwick for the following reasons: It will significantly increase air pollution, which is already a major health problem, particularly for young children; The emissions from additional flights will mean that we use up our carbon budget more quickly; Extra flights will also mean more cars travelling to the airport, and adding to air pollution; Extra flights will create more noise, which again can significantly affect the health of local residents. I am appalled that our government does not appear to have any policy limiting carbon emissions from aviation. This suggests that they do not take climate change seriously at all, and do not care about the dire consequences do not care about the floods, heatwaves, wildfires, heat, wave, droughts and other extreme weather conditions that are now affecting countries all over the world.
