I live on the A25, the current new diversion route for the M25. We already have many sleepless nights with the diverted motorway traffic passing through our small village. If the airport expands, this will have an even bigger impact on our quality of life, which has already become very stressful, even without additional airport traffic. People getting home from late flights or taking the early ones will be diverted directly past our house when there is any M25 closure, creating even more noise than the current situation. This will also impact the amount of traffic on a daily basis, as the road through our village is a direct link to Gatwick. We live in a small cul-de-sac, which is also the entrance to a Shell garage. This is already overloaded with too many customers for our small road entrance and is a dangerous junction to overcome. An additional runway will create additional traffic which will increase the garage customer base, which in turn creates more noise pollution and driving issues for the local residents. Plane noise may well also become a much bigger issue for us if different flight routes are used due to the higher number of flights that will take place with an additional runway.
