The expansion plans are contrary to the UK’s obligations on net zero. The measures the airport cites to explain how it will mitigate the pollution construction and operation of an expanded Gatwick will cause are all speculative and unproven. The airport relies on technology that does not exist to support an outdated economic case for expansion.
