Noise - the expansion of Gatwick airport will lead to a substantial increase in aircraft noise for those like ourselves who live under the flight path. At the present time we are woken up by the early morning flights and there does not appear to be a ban on overnight flights. The impact on climate change with the expansion of flights cannot be ignored. The world is slowly awakening to the huge damage of climate change and simply making more flights available will not ensure people address other alternatives. The local villages around Gatwick are already adversely impacted by the high volumes of traffic. Taxi's use the villages as rat runs and the lack of integrated transport to the airport encourages and indeed often necessitates car travel to and from the airport. Gatwick's overall case for expansion does not comply with the requirement for airports (other than Heathrow) to demonstrate sufficient need to justify their expansion proposals. The growth at Gatwick will have a hugely adverse impact on the local communities and countryside seemingly only for the benefit of Gatwick's shareholders.
