  • Having grown up in Hookwood and now living in Horley I am concerned with the increase in pollution, light polution and noise levels that the proposed runway would bring. - Climate change and CO2 levels are such an important topic at the moment, air travel is and will always be a significant contributor to this. We should be investing money more wisely to leave a better lasting legacy for our children. - The surrounding roads that service Gatwick cannot withstand the additional traffic and great consideration should be given to how the infrastructure would be improved to accommodate this. If there is an acccident or incident on the M25 it already brings Horley and surrounding areas to a halt. - A new runway to the North would need to be built and this encroaches on the villages of Hookwood and Charlwood rather than the industrialised area to the South. - Of course with any proposed project there are positives, such as increased jobs but there isn't significant affordable local housing to support this increase. If the staff car park is going to be removed then the new employees need to be within accessible distance. - Overall I calculate that the negative impacts of the development outweigh the potential positives. I hope these will be taken into consideration, along with the submissions of CAGNE and Charlwood Parish Council.
