The main concern for myself and young family is the noise levels, traffic levels and any negative impact this could have on our property price. As a growing family and one who moved to the area at great cost in the last 12 months I do not think it would be responsible and treating the local community fairly if the factors mentioned would mean a downturn in the property market here. I am aware of current interest rates having this impact already but am concerned that if no immediate investment by the airport in the local area and infrastructure is not forthcoming then locals could be heavily out of pocket. Potential for some form of compensation for residents in the immediate radius of the airport for the extra traffic/noise/pollution created. Ie 2.5-3 miles ? Currently I can hear aircraft taking off one week and then not the other, this has minimal impact on my life as it is never constant, however if it was constant it could make for a miserable existence. I am all for investment in the area but feel the current community is also cared for and thought of as part of these plans. The income the airport will generate from doubling its flights and traffic will far outweigh any compensation paid to locals who could use this to improve their windows/create more sound barrier plant more trees in gardens etc.
