As an inhabitant of the directly impacted community by this plan, I strongly oppose this project. Gatwick, as it is, is already a noise nuisance for the fauna, the surrounding villages, as well as contributes to a lot of pollution to our environment. If anything, people should reduce their use of airplanes and the government should tax frequent flyers more. The covid times have litterally brought us some breathing space: everyone in the country has been able to see how much more of a positive difference the steep decrease in flights has made to our mental health, to the nature. Why ignore this? There's a climate emergency: we shouldn't increase Gatwick capacity with this project. We should reduce it.
