Flood risk. I have only recently moved to this area and understand that there were recent floods in the area. It is imperative in this higher risk era, when climate change is making these extreme events more likely that nothing is undertaken by our government to increase the possibility of flooding. Climate Change and air pollution. Whilst on the subject of Climate Change. What is the logic of increasing the levels of CO2 in the UK by trying to encourage more flying (the least controlled of our polluting means of travel) and the associated increased vehicular pollution in the area resulting from no more trains available? Travel. No more trains will result in greater pollution from lorries, vans and cars on our roads, as the increased number of passengers use our already crowded local roads. If you were in the logistics business would you build extra facilities near Gatwick if it considerably increased its size? What impact would that have on pollution and crowding on the roads near the airport? Overcrowding. What has been done to ensure that GP practices, schools and our drains and sewage systems are capable of coping with the increased population? New jobs great; but where do they live and how do they get to work?
