The airlines, Gatwick Airport, the CAA, Nats and the Government have all failed to address the problem of chronic noise pollution emitted from arriving and departing aeroplanes using Gatwick Airport's single runway. This problem will only become worse ( with more people suffering or with concentrated flights paths, less people suffering more ) with the increase in air traffic that would be enabled by a second runway at Gatwick Airport. It also seems incongruous for an industry to be looking to increase CO2 emissions from an increase of flights at a time when the country and world is seeking an urgent reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
