The surrounding area will be utterly destroyed by much increased noise and air pollution. There are currently no limits to the number of night flights and the low level flying aircraft which currently operate. The noise at night is in intrusive often wakes us up. Open windows in the summer is just not possible. The prospect of additional thousands of flights impacting me, my family, the local village without any control is appalling. This is the only industry which I can think that truly remains unaccountable for its business impacts. The arrogance which Gatwick continues to operate, believing it can just swat away opposition is no longer acceptable by the vast majority. The impact of increasing flights to accommodate another 35m passengers a year is astronomical. That's half the UK population that would be arriving in the local area to fly, bringing with it all the chaos traffic and additional passers of the trains it will naturally attract. I understand Gatwick believe this brings prosperity to the area, there is already low unemployment in the area, where will these workers come from? How will the local housing infrastructure cope? What will the impacts be on schooling, doctors and other health services the supposed influx of new workers will bring with it. The world has moved on and so must Gatwick and recognise its full impact across the region and maintain its bullish tactics of ignoring its responsibilities. Gatwick cannot grow at the cost of everyone and everything else in the surrounding areas.
