I have lived in Charlwood since 2007 and have noticed an increase in both number of flights, aircraft noise and routes. The times the aircraft fly at night and early morning have altered. The air pollution has increased and the smell of aviation fuel some mornings is quite bad. If permission was given for a second runway, all this would become much worse. The value of our property will be effected by making it a much less desirable place to buy and the village as a whole will be devalued. It is no longer as peaceful as it used to be and my wellbeing has been affected with the increase in aircraft movement. There seems to be no end to it. To think that permission may be given to run both runways is unacceptable. I understand they are leading people to believe they are using both runways currently. I follow flight trader most days and it is exceedingly rare that you see the emergency runway in use. It would appear that is only during times of maintenance, which is perfectly acceptable. The impact on the local roads and infrastructure if they increase the volume of traffic at Gatwick will cause havoc and the local roads are not suitable for the current volume of traffic and any increase would only make a bad situation worse. The impact on the environment is unquestionably a disaster affecting both the climate change and other environmental issues. I think we should be looking to reducing our requirements for air travel and certainly not facilitating an increase.
