I wish to register comments about the proposed new runway at Gatwick airport. Since we are located on the approach path the resulting extra flights will considerably diminish my quality of life. Prime consideration is the noise and lack of curfew at night time. We are in an AONB which should mean that when we are outside, we should be able to enjoy the tranquility and benefits of a beautiful rural environment. We live beneath the flight path of Gatwick airport in what should be a quiet rural location. The noise from aircraft destroys our enjoyment but also of that of the many visitors of this location who seek the tranquility of our scenic environment. We cannot sit in our garden in the summer without the intrusion of aircraft noise. Aircraft continue to fly unrestricted throughout the night which disturbs our rest. An additional runway at Gatwick will lead to many more flights which prove intolerable for people living beneath he flight path. Close to us is the visitor attraction of Hever Castle which we visit regularly - visitors will be deterred by the air extra traffic, with its associated noise, created by an additional runway. We regularly attend performances at the open air theatre at Hever and already the aircraft noise is intrusive. An increase in aircraft traffic will create an intolerable amount of noise which almost certainly make this venue unviable, producing an adverse impact on visitor numbers and the local economy. The tourist economy in this region is very important. Boosting the "economy" at Gatwick airport at the expense of the surrounding local tourist economy is likely to be counterproductive both economically and for our way of life.
