I am a supporter of the annual Hever Festival at their Open Air Theatre during the summer months and have attended on several occasions in the past. This venue is iconic as it is located in the beautiful grounds of Hever Castle and is one of the few Open Air theatres in our lovely County of Kent. All the performances are already interrupted by the current flight path of planes to and from Gatwick which disturbs/distracts the audience, and performers, throughout performance. The Festival relies on the support of 'Festival Friends' and others, including the wonderful volunteer staff, for its livelihood. However, the main attraction is the Castle and Grounds itself, which throughout the year attracts many visitors, including those from abroad. The Castle also provides accommodation and is also used as a Wedding venue, both of which will be disturbed by the increase in air traffic. It will be much less attractive a place to visit for future generations if this plan goes ahead. I therefore OPPOSE the proposed project.
